Age of Empyre: Book Six of the Legends of the First Empire
Sigh. Legends of the First Empire is officially wrapped. This series was my first introduction to Michael J. Sullivan and I can’t overstate how happy I am that I found this author. I have been enthralled with his work from the beginning. I can’t wait to read some of his previously published material.
Age of Empyre gives a (mostly) satisfying ending to this six-part epic. The book picks up right where Age of Death leaves off. As with all of his other books, you certainly need to start from the beginning to truly enjoy the story. The story progresses quickly and before you know it, it’s over.
As with most of this series, there are plenty of point of view characters to be concerned for, yet, Michael doesn’t always give a satisfying conclusion for everyone we’ve come to know and love. Of course, if he did, the book would be twice as long and perhaps not as exciting and easy to read. However, I was fairly disappointed when I realized I was at the end and found myself wondering what happened to many characters. I’m not sure how I would have written thing differently, but at a minimum, I was glad to see how Michael did it and learn from one of the greatest writers I’ve had the pleasure of reading.
Overall, if you haven’t read this series, then get on it! I’d suggest buying directly from Michael, over Amazon, but both links are attached.
