The Last Republicans: Inside the Extraordinary Relationship Between George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush

The Last Republicans is an insightful and intelligent window into the Bush family, specifically George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush. The first part of the book title led me to believe it would be more political than it actually was. This is much more about a relationship between a father and a son rather than the politics of the Republican party. It wasn’t until the last few chapters that I felt the book got deeper into the politics of the day (which wasn’t a bad thing either). I enjoyed this book so much that I bought a copy for my own father to read. I really enjoyed reading about the evolving relationship between 41 and 43 (as they are referred to in the book).

I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the Bush family, politics from the 80’s – 00’s, or any conservative who feels their party may be abandoning them. A very good read, indeed!
